About me
Hey, I'm the solo developer behind Evolve.
I've been writing software since 1999, so that's around 26 years now across all sorts of languages and platforms. Game development was always the thing I wanted to get into, but I never actually took the plunge until 2020, during the COVID lockdowns, when I finally sat down and started learning Unity.
I've also been a gamer for about as long as I can remember, and survival games are the genre I always come back to. I've put thousands of hours into games like ARK: Survival Evolved. What I love about the genre is starting with nothing, exploring a world I don't understand yet, and slowly turning that into a home while the game does its best to kill me.
I've always loved voxel games too. There's something about a world made from blocks that just clicks with me, especially when you can actually change it. Dig into a mountain, carve out a cave, flatten a hillside, build wherever you want, and it stays that way.
For years I had this idea sitting in the back of my head: a proper survival game, but built on a fully destructible voxel world that keeps generating as you explore it. Eventually I got tired of just thinking about it and decided to actually try building it. That game became Evolve.
Doing something this ambitious solo is a genuine challenge. I'm learning new things constantly, and there's a lot I still don't know. But I'm also having a lot of fun building the kind of world I've wanted to play in for years.
Evolve is still growing and changing, but underneath all of it, this is a game built by someone who genuinely loves survival games, voxel worlds, and the freedom they can give players.
